Seattle tops list of riskiest cyber crime cities

by KING5.com

******

Seattle is the riskiest online city, according to a new survey.

The survey by Norton from Symantec found that Seattle is the most vulnerable to cybercrime.

Symantec says Seattle tops the list because people are more likely to access the Web each day and use the Internet for shopping and banking, and because of the proliferation of wireless Internet access.

Symantec says cybercrime affects one in five online shoppers and cost Americans $560 million in 2009.

The survey was conducted in conjunction with Sperling’s BestPlaces.

God Mode, What is it?

Posted by Ken on March 15, 2010 in Computer |

So apparently people are calling this “God Mode” because to enable this “trick” you make a folder called GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} and double-click on it.  Now you can see… the control panel.  With a slightly different view than you normally see it in.

So first off, why is this completely silly?  Well, the text ”GodMode” has nothing to do with making the trick work.  You can call the folder “IuseLiux.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}” and now you’ve discovered the magical “IuseLinux” feature hidden in Windows.

As if Android needed yet another endorsement, it turns out that Martin Cooper – the inventor of the cellular telephone who pretty much is responsible for all of us being here at this fine Web site today — is the proud owner of … wait for it … a Motorola Droid.

Cooper did a piece on C-SPAN last week where he talked (a lot!) about spectrum and the politics thereof (it’s clunky, but well done), as well as the argument that cell phones might cause cancer (show him some proof). The talk about his weapon of choice comes a little after the 30-minute mark. When asked about his daily driver he replied:

Apple files suit against HTC, alleging patent infringement

Post from Android Central

Apple today filed a lawsuit against HTC, claiming the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer infringed on 20 patents. CEO Steve Jobs, in a news release, said:

“We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it. We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours.”

We’re awaiting official comment from HTC and are taking a look at the lawsuit. Full press release from Apple is after the break. Stay tuned.
