Comedians have feild day with Bin Laden Death. [Video]

As New Yorkers, both Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart know all too well the devastation wrought by the Sept. 11 attacks. So it should come as no surprise that the Comedy Central duo reacted with exuberance to the news of Osama bin Laden’s death on their Monday shows.

“I suppose I should be expressing some ambivalence about the targeted killing of another human being,” said Stewart. “I am way too close to this whole episode to be rational about this in any way, shape, or form. Last night was a good night.”

“I am as giddy as a schoolgirl who just shot bin Laden in the eye,” said Colbert. “Wow. I am just so happy. And I hope, I hope, I am never again this happy over someone’s death.”

Colbert proceeded to dust off an old cake and balloons (from 2002, he said) that he’d be hanging on to for when bin Laden was killed.

But they weren’t the only late-night hosts to mark the occasion. Some other notable one-liners from Monday night:

David Letterman: “You folks seem like you’re in a good mood. What, did something happen?”

Jimmy Kimmel: “Apparently after nine years of searching, last night America voted and Osama bin Laden was eliminated from the planet Earth.”

Jimmy Fallon (impersonating Donald Trump): “The message is clear, President Obama is so scared of me and so desperate for attention that he felt the need to hunt down and kill Osama bin Laden right in the middle of my show.”
