HTC Sensation 4G update causes problems, we have a solution

T-Mobile starting pushing out the Android 2.3.4 update for the HTC Sensation 4G recently. The list of fixes and improvements the update is supposed to bring is very promising. Better screen responsiveness, a better battery and other fixes are a just of few of the things the Sensation 4G is getting. However, you may run into some issues with the update as I have. Fortunately, there is a solution.

I received the update a couple days after it was announced. After applying it, I immediately noticed how much quicker moving through home screens and the app menu had become. At the same time, I would get a white HTC loading screen whenever I returned to the home screen from random apps. My battery was also draining faster than before. If this happens to you, one of your best options is performing a factory reset.

There are a couple way to do a factory reset, but in my research, the best method is to reset using the phone’s hardware buttons. Here’s how to do it.

• Turn off the phone.
• Take out the battery for a few seconds, then put it back in
• Hold the volume down button and press the power button
• Once you see the screen that has three Androids on it, select “Factory Reset” from the list of options.

When everything resets, your phone will be back to the way it was when you purchased it (but with current firmware). You will lose anything that is stored on the phone. Anything that is on your SD card will be fine.

This method worked for me. Since doing this, my battery has been lasting much longer than it ever has. After being off the charger for 10 hours and doing the same tasks I always do, I still had close to 70% battery left. Before now, I’d had to charge the phone in the middle of the day.

My phone works great now. I can’t recommend resetting the phone enough if you’re experiencing problems.
