A new Android Market for phones, with books and movies
Recently, we’ve been hard at work improving Android Market to give you new ways to find great applications and games, purchase books, and rent movies. Today, we’re releasing a new version of Android Market which makes all of these available on phones (Android 2.2 and higher).
In the U.S., you’ll be able to rent thousands of movies, starting at $1.99, right from Android Market on your phone. With the Videos app, available in Android Market, there’s no more waiting for downloads, syncing, or worrying about storage space. Simply sign into Android Market with your Google account, and you can rent movies from anywhere – the web, or your Android phone or tablet – and start watching instantly. You can also download movies to your device so they’re available for viewing when you don’t have an internet connection.
Sensation vs. Galaxy S II: Does qHD make a difference?
One of the lingering questions after our HTC Sensation review earlier this week was just how much of a difference the smartphone’s qHD 960 x 540 resolution display makes over the regular crop of WVGA 800x 480 phones. More pressingly, does Samsung’s Super AMOLED Plus panel on the Galaxy S II, with its surfeit of sub-pixels, hold a candle to the Sensation. There’s only one way to find out: some uber-high-resolution photos in a GSII/Sensation shoot out!
HTC Sensation Review
Once, Android’s primary challenge was the iPhone: proving that Google’s open-source platform – and the devices that ran it – were good enough to share retail space with Apple’s groundbreaking smartphone. Now, with dominant market-share and increasingly polished handsets, the battle is between ‘droids. Into the fray drops the HTC Sensation, the company’s new dual-core flagship. It’s certainly the best-spec’d HTC to date, but is it enough to beat Samsung’s all-conquering Galaxy S II? Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.
T-Mobile Dealer Leak Confirms June 8th Release Date For HTC Sensation 4G
The HTC Sensation 4G news just keeps getting better over the weekend as we just received the above screen shot confirming the much rumored June 8th release date. This comes on top of last nights leaked screen shot that confirmed Target’s release date and pricing. However, this date is for T-Mobile directly and we expect that Target will launch the phone on a Sunday which lines up perfectly with the June 12th date.
HTC Sensation Release date Leaked!
Other sooth sayers and Ouija board specialists say they already predicted the same launch date for the HTC Sensation simply by looking at the official rendering that HTC posted on their site. You’ll notice that the clock widget displays June 8th at the date. Anyone see a pattern emerging here?
We’re not sure if June 8th is the launch date or simply when T-Mobile will allow customers to pre-order the HTC Senation. Either way, we still have at least a month and a half before we’ll see HTC’s newest flagship device launch in the U.S. market. How many of you want to pick one of these up as soon as possible?
HTC Sensation 4G coming to T-Mobile U.S.A. this summer
The new HTC Sensation will be making its way to T-Mobile’s network here in the U.S. sometime this summer as the HTC Sensation 4G with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, a 4.3-inch qHD display, 1540 mAh battery, 8 megapixel camera, and a front-facing VGA shooter for video calling.
T-Mobile will be releasing information about the HTC Sensation 4G’s price and launch date at a future time. Since HTC and Vodafone plan on pushing the phone out in late may to several European markets, we hope Magenta’s launch of the HTC Sensation isn’t too far out.
HTC News: Traces of New HTC Sense on HTC Sensation with Godly Visitations, Love & More
We already know that the HTC Sensation will come with the HTC Watch video rental and buying service. A new video from an HTC Roadshow demo shows that new HTC Sense will have a new onscreen HTC keyboard with Swype-like style. The Trace feature is disabled by default but can enabled from keyboard setting. It has refinement setting for different finger sizes.
